Objectives

• To train human resources of high academic quality in the field of Biological and Agricultural Sciences.
• To train researchers, teachers and professionals in the knowledge, management and use of living organisms and natural and agricultural resources.
• To contribute to scientific advancement, both basic and applied, in the disciplinary areas related to the program.

Admission profile

In the case of the Direct Doctorate (admission with a bachelor's degree), students must: 

• Demonstrate a vocation for scientific research into biological and agronomic phenomena.
• Having obtained a Bachelor's degree.
• Have at least one year of research experience (verifiable through publications, conference presentations, technical reports and other similar materials), as well as a solid background in basic and applied sciences in their specialty. 
• Possess the ability to identify research problems, as well as to propose, present, develop and defend projects with independence and creativity.
• Possess sufficient knowledge in understanding and writing the English language. 
• Demonstrate a willingness to work as part of a team during research tasks. 
• Demonstrate initiative, responsibility, tenacity, discipline, honesty, and critical thinking skills.
• Show respect and tolerance for people and their ideas. 

Graduate profile

The aim is to train graduates who, depending on their area of ​​specialization, will have an academic profile that includes:

• A solid academic background that allows them to understand the problems of knowledge, management and use of living beings and natural resources as complex processes that require integrated approaches in the development of basic and applied research.
• Ability to review and analyze in depth the reasoning, knowledge of the frontier literature of the respective area of ​​specialization, the methodologies and techniques used, as well as the evaluation and interpretation of the models that attempt to explain the processes and phenomena studied.
• Competencies to conduct original research in any of the different areas of Biological and/or Agronomic Sciences.
• Skills to communicate clearly and objectively their findings and interpretations in scientific and dissemination articles, as well as in specialized academic events.
• Capacity to train specialized human resources in the disciplines associated with biology and agronomy, such as biosystematics, ecology and the management of natural and agricultural resources among others, through teaching, advising and thesis direction.
• The initiative to innovate in the performance of their professional activities.
• Skill in integrating and leading multi, inter and transdisciplinary work teams, fostering respect and tolerance for people and their ideas. 
• Skills to manage financial resources to carry out their research.
• Sensitivity to give a social meaning to their activities for the benefit of the region and the country.

Entry requirements

For the Doctoral Program in Sciences in Biosystematics, Ecology and Management of Natural and Agricultural Resources, in addition to those required by the applicable university regulations, the following are required: 

• Original and copy of the bachelor's degree or graduation certificate, in related areas, for admission to the Direct Doctorate.
• Original and copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate that proves a minimum overall average of 80, for the case of admission to the Direct Doctorate.
• Original and copy of the Master's degree or the degree examination record, in related areas for the case of admission to the Classical Doctorate.
• Original and copy of the Master's degree certificate that proves a minimum overall average of 80, for admission to the Classical Doctorate.
• Letter of intent to apply for admission to the Doctoral program. 
• Presentation of a selection exam.
• Interview with the Academic Board of the Doctoral Program.
• Presentation of proof of basic English language proficiency.
• Present a research project.
• Approve the other requirements published in the respective call for applications. 

Requirements to obtain the degree

The requirements to obtain the degree of Doctor of Science in Biosystematics, Ecology and Management of Natural and Agricultural Resources, in addition to those required by university regulations, are the following: 

• Having completed the corresponding doctoral program.
• Having fulfilled the requirements indicated in the respective study plan.
• Having passed a doctoral candidacy exam.
• Present, defend and pass doctoral degree examination.
• Present proof of no outstanding debt issued by the School Control Coordination of the respective University Center.
• Cover the corresponding fees.
