Karla Planter is the godmother of the 2023B-2026A graduating class of Ciudad Guzmán High School

On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Ciudad Guzmán High School, the Rector General of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), Professor Karla Planter Pérez, She was the godmother of the 2023B-2026A graduating class of that high school.The celebration took place at the Casino Auditorium in Zapotlán el Grande.

In his remarks to his goddaughters and godsons, Planter Pérez emphasized that This generation stood out for its intelligence, unity, and commitmentwhich is reflected in the results obtained during its three-year history.

“Congratulations. You should feel proud to be here. You must be grateful and acknowledge the work of your parents and teachers, who accompanied you throughout this journey.” Remember that you are now black lions for life"It is an honor to have been chosen as godmother, I am proud of you because you are the ones who raise the university's name high," she declared.

Jorge Luis del Toro Álvarez, the high school principal, welcomed everyone. The 422 graduates, and mentioned that this day recognizes the effort and perseverance of those who complete this academic stage. 

“Always carry with you the pride of belonging to the UdeG, and remember that what you learn here will be of great importance throughout your life,” he said.

Dr. Margarita Hernández Ortiz, director of Upper Secondary Education System (SEMS), congratulated the students for completing this stage of challenges and learning.

“I thank the Rector General for accompanying this graduating class as their godmother, because your presence is a recognition of the perseverance and enthusiasm of these students. I wish you all the best. Remember that the heart of a lion beats in each and every one of you,” she said.

Camila Peña Sánchez, the graduating class representative, acknowledged the effort and struggle of those who were present throughout her academic journey, and thanked her friends, teachers, and parents.

“Look around you, These are the people with whom we shared an important stage of our lives, who helped us build who we are today."He said.

Amid musical performances by students and joyful applause, Planter Pérez presented academic certificates to the 422 graduates. belonging to the morning and afternoon shifts; Students who stood out for their academic excellence were also recognized, such as Camila Peña Sánchez, Fernanda Castillo, Diana Chávez and Diego Elizondo, who had a final average of 100.

The Rector General She also presented an award to students Camila Peña Sánchez, gold medalist in the Mathematics Tournament in Singapore and participant in various mathematics olympiads, and Abril Ramírez, state representative of chess in the XXIII School Games of upper secondary education.

As part of the closing activities, the high school community formally invited Principal Karla Planter to attend the fifth annual Day of the Dead Festival as a guest of honor and presented her with a piece by the visual artist from the Sie region of Jalisco: Diego Sandoval.

Finally, authorities from the University of Guadalajara and the municipality presented an award to Gloria Figueroa Sánchez and José Zepeda López, teachers from the institution, who recently retired.
