UdeG and DIF Jalisco join forces to benefit children, the elderly, and people with disabilities

With the objective of to promote joint actions in the areas of research, vocational training, technological innovation, social service and support for priority groups, the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) and the System for the Integral Development of the Family of Jalisco (DIF Jalisco) They signed a general agreement collaboration that will allow the development of social impact projects for the benefit of the families of the entity.

The Rector General, Professor Karla Planter Pérez, emphasized that the signing of the agreement It responds to the institutional commitment to contribute to solving the main social challenges facing Jalisco.

“We have challenges that are defining for building the society we want and the society we need. It involves Topics ranging from nutrition to the promotion of values ​​such as respect, solidarity and tolerance. “The DIF (National System for Integral Family Development) and the University of Guadalajara have much to do; we face problems that society suffers from and that should unite us to confront them. This alliance will go beyond a simple signature, because this university is committed to the challenges we face,” he stated.

He also highlighted the possibility of developing joint projects in the areas of child nutrition, applied research, and care for people with neurodivergent conditions., taking advantage of the university's scientific and technological capabilities.

The president of the Jalisco DIF system, Maye Villa de Lemus, said that the collaboration with the UdeG will strengthen the institutional capacity to respond to the social challenges of Jalisco through actions supported by evidence and specialized knowledge.

During the presentation of the reasons for the agreement, the General Coordinator of Outreach at the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), Professor Luis Gustavo Padilla Montes, stated that the agreement represents a strategic alliance that will allow to translate university knowledge into concrete benefits for the population.

“This agreement seals a strategic alliance between two institutions that share a noble purpose: the well-being of families in Jalisco, the attention given to priority groups, and the creation of better conditions for the development of the entire population".

The university official explained that The agreement will lead to specific agreements with different university centers. to develop projects related to community health, telemedicine, nutrition, children's rights, social assistance, community development, data science and artificial intelligence applied to public services.

"With the University Center for Health Sciences We will promote the training of community promoters, the development of telemedicine and digital health; epidemiological studies and the addressing of priority problems, along with models aimed at strengthening the autonomy of people with disabilities. With the University Center for Social Sciences and Humanitiesin training on the rights of children and adolescents.
